Gaura had been out getting groceries for the week. Honestly he should have been home an hour ago but he'd tried to navigate back without the use of his device. A mistake really. So after using it for directions, he'd finally made it back and was finishing with putting the food away when he saw the bouquet.
Curious, he went over to it to sniff the flowers before noticing the tag. Seeing his name, he blinked in surprise before looking at the flowers again. Cheeks coloring some, he gently touched the petals while he thought about the meaning. It was a sweet thing really. To have someone thinking of him and he even started to think about Henry too.
Shaking his head, he kept blushing as he went to go put the flowers somewhere they could be properly on display with fresh water.
[Jingyi knocks on his friend's door one morning with a small box in his hand wrapped in pretty paper and ribbon. On his belt hangs a pink knotted tassel, which is bright against the pale blue and white of his robes.]
[Opening the door, Gaura tilts his head wondering who is visiting him. White but with blue...a sword... The tassel catches his attention and throws him though. That's new even if it's very cute.
He finally puts on a soft smile.] Hello there...
[He knows that if this is someone he knows they'll tell him soon who they are at least.]
Gege! It's Lan Jingyi. I hope I'm not interrupting anything. I just finished making something and I wanted you to have it.
[He holds out the box. Inside he'll find a bracelet with small, round, pink beads and Chinese characters on them. Gaura might not be able to see his face, but there's pride and excitement in his tone showing he's exuberant about giving his gift.]
Henry's sitting at the dining room table, fiddling with the ring on his finger as he waits for Gaura to bring dinner. Once the other man is seated, before they can even start eating, Henry simply blurts out, "Are we engaged?"
Gaura had barely sat down in the chair when the question was blurted out. Startled, he blinked at the other man. Oh. Right. They really hadn't discussed this at all. It had all just happened. Blushing, he looked down. "I've been thinking we are. If you would like to be..."
It's okay that they didn't discuss it! They're discussing it now.
Henry breathed out a sigh of relief and practically melted into his chair. He hoped that was the meaning of the rings, but he wasn't sure if the exchange meant something different to Gaura, given that they're from different times with different customs.
[ Sometime between the wedding and the event in August, Jingyi gives up trying to figure this out on his own and he calls his er-ge. Maybe he'll have some answers for him?
It's after nine, but Jingyi can't sleep. His hair is loose and he's in robes for sleeping. His bare toes are sticking out under the hem as he hugs his knees to his chest. He's outside somewhere and it's sort of dark, but there's a light from somewhere nearby. ]
Er-ge, I'm sorry if I woke you. Are you able to talk?
[Woke him? Oh dear. Jingyi must go to sleep early...
He smiles as he goes to a more private part of the house. Henry is busy at the moment so he has time for his little brother. Especially since it looks like he needs him.]
[He goes to bed precisely when good boys are supposed to. Unless Wuxian is distracting him by telling him stories.]
I think I did something bad and I'm not sure what to do about it. You know my shifu's wedding? I uh.. Sizhui and I snuck out of the banquet feast with a bottle of wine and we ended up getting drunk. We did some things we shouldn't have. You know, besides the drinking.
[It's about three in the morning on Tay's third night at chez Gaura's when their new houseguest stumbles in accidentally making a bit of a racket. His heels don't help and after fumbling in the kitchen for a few minutes the sound of something breaking can be overheard, followed by a few curses.
When Gaura comes in, he'll find a very drunk Tay attempting to pick up the pieces of a coffee mug. His knuckles are scraped on one hand and there's an angry red mark on his cheek. His shirt had been neat when he left, but now it's unkempt and some of the buttons are gone.]
[Getting up, Gaura tucks a robe around him as he goes out to investigate. There he finds what must be Tay coming in late. He doesn't judge him though and simply comes over to kneel down to help him with the mug.
He sees the mark on his cheek then immediately forgets it as he looks down at those knuckles. Frowning in concern, he reaches out to take his hand.]
It's really a wonder Tay and Pete didn't wake anyone up when they returned to Gaura's house sometime late the night before. Pete had helped him find a safe spot for the pistol and had left quietly. Tay had let the yukata drop on the floor of his room and fallen into bed.
After a certain late morning phone call, he very carefully gets himself up out of bed, wraps a towel around his waist, and limps to the bathroom. He stumbles part way and lands on the floor on his side (thank god not on his knee again), letting out a soft cry of pain.
Gaura was bringing some laundry down the hall when he saw someone on the floor in Tay's room. A quick look at the hair told him that it couldn't be Henry. Not to mention the state of dress and what room it was. Setting the laundry down, he rushed in to help his friend sit up then saw the state of that knee.
A hiss and he got Tay's arm over his shoulder so he could help get him up and into the bathroom. "I think you might be better off with a bath rather than a shower."
"Gaura don't.. you don't have to.." He gives up as he's helped the rest of the way to the bathroom. He sinks down to sit on the toilet with the lid down, putting his face in his hands, and coughs. The impact of falling had knocked the wind out of him, but after a few shaky breathes he calms and lifts his head to look at his friend.
Oh! Give me a moment and I'll be out to greet you.
[He just has to brush his hands off and head to the front, emerging with a bright smile on his face. It's now clear to see that he has pink wings on his back.]
Henry spends a good portion of his time at home. For days on end, he'll sit in his study, collecting the information he's found on the native flora and fauna of Nippon. Though, he does take a walk every day with Gaura and they've begun to take short weekend trips to other areas, he is, what they call, a homebody.
But he's been getting more, in part thanks to his bicycle and making deliveries for Gaura. But a short time ago he was home when his fiance had a visitor and he couldn't help overhearing a part of their conversation. Which is why he's now wandering out to the garden to find Gaura and present him with something he hopes his beloved will accept.
Gaura had been making sure that the sturdier plants would still be alright in the cold. They were coming out of the worst of it now but that didn't mean he should treat them with less care. Though, he could pause in his work to look over at Henry with curiosity. And a smile.
Brushing off his hands, he smiled and took off his gloves to set them aside. "Of course. What is it?"
Keeping his cooking lessons a secret had been hard. But the surprise was more important! He waited until Gaura's birthday to surprise him with the one recipe he'd be able to find that seemed authentically Korean: galbi-jjim.
Henry spent practically the whole day in the kitchen. Thankfully, Gaura was working in the garden so he was able to be a little sneaky. Surely his fiance would recognize the scent of a spicy dish wafting through the house and then the surprise would be ruined! When he finally finished the short-rib dish, Henry was almost giddy when he went out to fetch Gaura from the garden.
Gaura had actually forgotten it was his birthday today. He'd mentioned it in passing to Henry at some point when his birthday was but then the thought had slipped his mind the actual day of. Now he was just going about his day business as usual when he heard his fiance call to him. Looking up, he dusted off and went to a faucet to rinse the dirt off of his hands before he headed for the door.
"Yes? What is it, Henry?" he asked, curious as as he got close to the man.

I'm fine, sweetheart. I just need a little coffee. I'll be ready for more dancing, I swear.
